The only hostel located down on the actual lakeside, Princesa Toa is organized by the Fundacion Ecuatoriana del Habitat. It is run by local community members and all profits are invested back into the community. Though accommodations are rustic (bathrooms are outdoors), the indigenous locals who work there are friendly and proud. Prices include breakfast and dinner. If you have your own tent, you can camp for free, though be sure to bring plenty of warm clothes and a well-insulated sleeping bag, as temperatures are extremely cold. However there have also been multiple reports of campers' items being stolen, so don't leave your things unaccompanied.
