If you can handle the cheesy décor and a little Jesus paraphernalia, this hotel is probably your best bet in Saquisili. San Carlos is a one stop shop with an in-house hotel, bar, and cafeteria overlooking the central plaza. The area can be a bit noisy with the frequent squawking of a clown that broadcasts sales throughout the afternoon in the store below. Rooms are simple and dark but will do the trick for a night and early market morning rise. The restaurant is decent for the area, serving up secos de pollo/carne and simple fare. You can’t miss the building -- a broken hanging neon sign marks the spot off Bolívar and Sucre at the corner of the park.
