An old sprawling hacienda that is a working farm-turned-guesthouse with an authentic feel and the warmest of hosts, the posada is truly a destination in itself. While this place may sound a bit pricey for the region, you pay for what you get here, and it’s worth it.

Seven cozy rooms of varying décor and layout make up the first floor of a large farmhouse, convening in a snug living room with a woodstove and old west feel. Running the business is truly a family affair, with Margarita, Marco, and their children eager to show you the ropes at the farm and ensure that your stay is memorable.

The farm works to fuel the posada, providing fresh veggies, milk, yogurt and meats that the family continually transform into some tasty meals that would give your grandma a run for her money. Be sure to try the yogurt made on-site mixed with manjar de leche -- an incredible caramel treat! Hosts are more than happy to show you the farm, send you off on horses, or even take a stab at milking the cows or riding a llama.

Fantastic place with stunning views - Margarita and Marco couldn't have been friendlier - especially putting up with my ropy spanish. They took kids riding on llamas, let them milk the cows, and cooked the most fantastic meals. In the evening sitting by the stove with a beer was really cosy. They will have added the rest of the en suite bathrooms by now - and while fairly basic - the posada's a great place to chill for a night or two on the circuit.
