There are not shortages of places to eat in Riobamba, however most of the restaurants are mom and pop run holes in the walls. Their food usually is not bad, and is cheap, but sanitary conditions often seem questionable.
If you are looking for a little nicer place to eat, a walk up the main street in town, 10 de Agosto, will lead you to most of your more upscale (and clean) options.
On train days both the Hotel Tren Dorado and the Hostal Montecarlo offer early bird breakfasts, starting at 5:30am.
If you don’t have a train to catch early in the morning, or want to party anyways, there is a good selection of discotecas in town.
