When To Go To Salinas de Bolívar

The best time to visit the salt mines and do outdoor activities is during summer, July-October, when it is dryer and temperatures reach 12ºC (54ºF). If you come during the rest of the year, expect rains and cool temperatures (5-7ºC / 41-45ºF).

 

Like its neighbour, Guaranda, Salinas also celebrates pre-Lenten Carnaval in high fashion, with dance and music troupes, and gastronomic and artisan fairs. November is when this town celebrates its Festival Multicultural El Salinerito – a.k.a. Festival de Queso – with traditional dance, llama races, concerts and, of course, cheeses.
