Mercado de los Andes is the city’s main food market and includes a large produce section, with every type of fruit you’ve heard of and likely a few that you haven’t. There are also some cheap clothing stores, notable for their variety of typical Ecuadorian hats.
The market itself is nothing special, and would really only be of interest to those planning on cooking (or a few hat-aficionados). But the market's food court has some surprisingly tasty dishes, with variety to suit most palates. A typical lunch will cost around $2, including a drink, and is well worth the price.
