Those on a budget, or visitors interested in spending the night in a converted colonial building, should make their way to Imbabura. The hotel has an interior courtyard, soaring ceilings and a distinct monastery-like feel. Rooms are simple, but spotless, and some boast excellent views of the stunning Ibarra scenery. Imbabura attracts a largely backpacker crowd, but anyone who values character and quality, or who prefers to drop their bags someplace with a bit more color than generic hostals and chain hotels, will fall in love with the warmth and charisma of the Imbabura.

This is a very nice colonial place. The owner Pepe is always there to give you information and make you feel at home. There is a great restaurant called La Pileta where the pizza is really good.
I love the colonial style-- very friendly, very clean-- and there is a nice restaurant.
