Tucked away in the corner of a quiet plaza, far from tour buses and boisterous backpackers, is a charming little restaurant. Its otherwise obscure façade gives way to an absolutely irresistible atmosphere and arguably some of the best meat in South America. Finding a place this good, so far off the beaten tourist track, is truly a feather in any traveler’s cap. Despite its ostensibly simple appearance, the restaurant serves up outstanding Argentinean-style dishes overflowing with food and literally dripping with flavor. Meat, grilled and served with heaps of spicy sauces and mouth-watering sides, is the specialty here, and you’re almost guaranteed to leave with a full belly and your meat-fix for the week. Sitting outside beneath the picnic umbrella, a cool breeze at your back, grilling meat at your side and a generous glass of red wine in your hand, you might forget, for a moment, that there was anything more to life than good food and great atmosphere. This is a well-kept Ibarra secret…shhh…don’t tell anyone we told you. Monday-Saturday 12:00-21:30, Sunday 12:00-15:30.
