Italian gastronomy and Ecuadorian warmth collide amongst an intriguing collection of Charlie Chaplin and Three Stooges posters at this popular dining dive, just off the main drag in Ibarra. Owner Jorge “Patito” Echeverrí, who has lived in both France and Italy, welcomes patrons with a hearty handshake and sly smile, which is bound to convince anyone to lay down a few dollars, sit, and stay for a while. Meals are Italian-inspired, and include fresh antipasto salads, topping-packed pizzas (cooked in an authentic brick adobe oven!), and a variety of homemade pastas. If you’re feeling a little crazy, try the Margarita pizza, best savored with a glass of red wine. On weekends, the restaurant bursts at the seams with people who come for the live music—if you’re lucky you might catch Patito himself belting a tune. During the week, the atmosphere is much more relaxed, and you might even have the place to yourself (and the Stooges).
