La Esquina - Restaurant Ibarra - Ecuador

The clean and colorful La Esquina is one of the more modern cafés in Ibarra that, in addition to traditional Ibarra ice cream (fluffy ice cream with a consistency similar to sherbet), has a short menu of Ecuadorian specialties, such as humitas, quimbolitos and empanadas, as well as sandwiches, desserts, and breakfasts. The café has been decorated with a bright orange and green décor and Ikea-like furnishings, and there's a plastic play gym for toddlers on the second floor. There's a second, smaller La Esquina across the road serving up sandwiches, fruit salads, cakes, juices and coffee-but no ice-cream. Daily 8.30 a.m.-8 p.m.
