A wonderful, intoxicating, breathtaking place. There are no bad views. The service is impeccable. The food enticingly wonderful. The people friendly and accommodating. It is heavenly and one day I want to permanently move in!!!!!!!!
I don't know where the other reviewer got their information from, but I saw wildlife!! I have a video clip of the sloth we saw to prove it! Every day parrots would fly by the hacienda, at least twice a day. And you could hear the howler monkeys in the forests at sunset. I didn't see an anteater, but they are so rare! I imagine it is not hard to tell that I loved the whole place! It is so charming, the people and the food are wonderful! We went on fabulous hikes and horseback rides that ended up at spectacular waterfalls. I highly recommend it!I posted the video of the sloth here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrWuDjl0SmM Enjoy!
The hacienda was great. It was beautiful, very clean, and the staff was wonderful. The chef is a super guitar player and sings well too. There was a major disappointment for me however. The hacienda's website touts having toucans, toucanets, parrots and the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, plus the mantled howler monkey, two toed sloths, giant anteaters and armadillos in the area. I chose the location because I wanted to see wildlife. Upon arrival, I learned that none of these animals can be seen in the northern Andes, that they live only in the rainforest. I felt the website was misleading in this way.
I had such a great time
The Hacienda Primavera was absolutely fabulous! The views were gorgeous, from every vantage point and changing daily. As an inexperienced rider, I was very comfortable on my horse and thrilled with the experience and seeing great waterfalls. The food was way more than expected with gourmet meals three times a day. The pool, our room, the hikes, the plants, the staff, the animals and the views made for a most enjoyable experience. Next time, I want to be the one under the waterfall!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our week in Paradise at the Hacienda. The service, food and hospitality were unexpectedly wonderful in such a seemingly isolated location.
The birding was terrific, especially the green parrots starting and ending our days with their flights across the valley. There is plenty to do and explore, but floating peacefully in the fresh water pool was also incredible! The vistas go on forever.
We would hardily recommend the Hacienda to our fellow world travelers without reservation.
I have travelled quite a bit, and can say for certain that my stay at Hacienda Primavera was better than anything I have ever experienced. The surroundings are breathtaking, the excursions are adventurous and suited for all ages and athletic abilities, the service is warm and friendly, and the food is always delicious. The trip from Quito is not short, but it's well worth it.
I suppose that there are equally fascinating jungle tours, other horses to ride, rivers to raft, dining as fine, accommodations as comfortable and service as attentive; but no place that we have ever been offers what the Hacienda Primavera delivers: itself. We found ourselves invariably drawn back to the patio encircling the building simply to absorb the 360 degree panorama continuously evolving before our eyes. The mountains and jungles are not distant vantages, but the neighborhood itself. And the very atmosphere, perfect temperature and humidity day and night, adds a sensual dimension that never cloys. My only complaint is that the pleasures of Hacienda Primavera have seriously affected our ability to enjoy the offerings of more earthly "paradises".
To be completely honest I can't list anything I disliked about the Hacienda Primavera. From the first moment I arrived I knew that I wouldn't be able to leave. I was there for three days and I knew I needed to spend more time there when I saw the number of activities I could do. When I went the second time, my stay was even better which is hard to imagine. I can't wait to go again!!!!
