The Verde Milenio Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the environment and preserving the cultural heritage of the native communities who live in the endangered areas of Ecuador.

Verde Milenio’s principal area of operation is currently El Chocó, on the north coast of Ecuador in the Cotocachi-Cayapas Ecological Reserve. It manages a number of projects including supporting the development of community ecotourism. San Miguel and Playa de Oro are two tourist destinations that offer their guests a truly unique experience.

They have been designed to offer the visitor the best comfort in the heart of the tropical Choco rainforest; one of the most spectacular coastal humid forests, and known worldwide as a bio diverse hot spot. These destinations therefore offer an ecological and cultural experience without comparison in a pleasant and calm atmosphere, perfect for relaxing. Each one of the lodges can accommodate up to 20 visitors.

Verde Milenio works in collaboration with the local Chachi and Afro-Ecuadorian communities to support the development of these ecotourism projects. The projects provide the communities with an ecologically and culturally sound alternative for sustainable development. In addition to ecotourism projects, Verde Milenio also manages education, health, conservation, small business development and volunteering projects.
