Market
Located next to the central bus station, Mercado de los Andes is the city’s main food market. It includes a large produce section, with every type of fruit you’ve heard of and more than likely a few that you haven’t. There are also some cheap clothing stores, notable for their variety of typical Ecuadorian hats.
The market itself is nothing special, and would really only be of interest to those planning on cooking (or a few hat-aficionados). But the attached food court yields some surprisingly tasty dishes, with variety to suit most tastes. Typical lunch will cost around $2 including a drink, and is well worth it.
Getting There
The market is located right next to the bus station, and about 5 blocks from the main plaza.
