Munaylla is a neat, quiet hostel that's stuffed with antiques and is close to the center of town. The rooms with windows are bright and pleasant. Some of the higher rooms have decent views, and are only $5, though they don't have private bathrooms or TV. Rooms without windows facing out should be avoided. Since it's the tallest building for some distance, there are great views from the easily reached rooftop. It's most popular with Ecuadorian families, and there aren't any real common areas, so don't expect to meet many fellow travellers. No rooms are wheelchair accessible, and it's at least one flight of stairs to the lowest rooms.
