On the shore of San Pablo Lake, about fifteen minutes south of Otavalo, sits Puerto Lago hotel and restaurant. It is an attractive complex of well-manicured lawns, spacious rooms, and one of the most elegant restaurants in the area. There are 27 rooms in the complex, the best of which have a magnificent view of the lake and Imbabura volcano on the other side. The rooms are cozy, neat, and comfortable: they have fireplaces and cable TV.

Puerto Lago owns a motorboat; tours of the lake and water skiing are possible. It is also possible to fish in the lake. There are llamas on the grounds for photos, and a gift shop. On weekends, women from Otavalo set up small stands in the parking lot to sell their wares to tourists who pass through to eat at the restaurant.

The restaurant is probably the best part of Puerto Lago. Constructed right on the shore, if you’re seated at the window, you have excellent views over the water. The food is outstanding, and many of the tour buses going to and from Otavalo regularly stop for lunch. The restaurant specializes in traditional food, but has a wide array of menu options. There are also conference facilities, and Puerto Lago can host special events.

Close to the Indian market, great rooms with beautiful lakeview, Cable TV with CNN news and HBO.

Everything is fantastic from the service the rooms the value and the food and location you don't need to travel you can stay central at puerto lago and span out from there knowing you have a fantastic place to stay the night when you are finished exploring or shopping at Otovalo only a ten min drive away.
