The bright green Hostal María is a unremarkable but friendly place, close to Poncho Plaza. The medium-sized, white rooms lack character, but they’re clean and all have private bathrooms. The price is $5 per person, whether you want a single, double or triple, which makes the hostel a good deal for single travelers. There’s no common area or café, so when you’re in the hotel you’re pretty much restricted to your room. Breakfast is available at the deli-style Café Rio Intag underneath the hotel – you can choose from a few set menus, including American and Ecuadorian, which cost from $1.25 to $2.50.

I love this hostel.... I visit it every year!

Everyone was very friendly and the bedding smelled so fresh! It was very close to the Indian Market and right around the corner from the Pie Shoppe!
