V!VA User‘s Description

Run by a charming local couple and their children, Café Mundi is an Otavalo institution. It’s a small place with a few dining tables and one long, low coffee table surrounded by surprisingly comfortable leather benches, and the windows are plastered with testimonials from former customers. The food ranges from just about passable to excellent – the Ecuadorian main dishes (platos fuertes) tend to be the best. It’s right on the Plaza de Ponchos, so you can duck in for a quick coffee or a bite to eat when you need a break from the bustle of the market.

Daily: 8 am - 10:30 pm, but closes earlier if it´s quiet
