TOURISM
The tourism office, iTur (Monday to Friday 8 a.m.-12.30 p.m. and 2.30-6 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.), is located on Calle Quiroga and Jaramillo, on the corner of the Plaza de Ponchos. Staff can provide information on the surrounding area, and have free maps.

MONEY
Just off the Plaza de Ponchos is a branch of Banco Pichincha (Ca. Sucre 1413, near the corner of Quiroga. Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-12 p.m.) which has an ATM that accepts international cards; the ATM is only accessible during banking hours however. 24-hour ATMs that accept VISA and Mastercard can be found at the Banco de Guayaquil on Calle Calderon between Roca and Bol├şvar, and at the Banco del Pacifico on the Parque Central (corner of Garcia Moreno and Bolivar).

KEEPING IN TOUCH
There are an abundance of Internet caf├ęs in Otavalo, almost all of which also have phone cabins. Internet rates run at around $0.70 per hour. Calles Roca, Bolivar and Sucre in particular have several Internet caf├ęs. The post office (Ca. Sucre 12-18, corner of Salinas. Go through the corridor and up the stairs) is open Monday to Friday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.-12 p.m. (there is no outward mail service on a Saturday however).

MEDICAL
You'll have no problem finding a pharmacy in Otavalo. Conveniently located on the Plaza de Ponchos is the Farmacia Santa (daily 8 a.m.-9 p.m.). The public hospital, Hospital San Luis, is located on Sucre and Estados Unidos, a 10-minute walk from the Plaza de Ponchos.

LAUNDRY
There is a coin laundromat on the corner of Morales and Sucre, next to La Taberna bar. Rates are $0.50 per pound, for both washing and drying.

SHOPPING
Otavalo's best shopping opportunities can be found-of course-in its markets (see Things to See and Do in Otavalo). For day-to-day items though, there is a supermarket, La Mia, on the corner of the Plaza de Ponchos (on Jaramillo and Quiroga), and a Supermercado Tia on Calle Sucre between Calderon and Montalvo. For fresh fruit, dried goods and cheap almuerzos, head to Mercado 24 de Mayo on the corner of Montalvo and Jaramillo.
