Aram Kachatukian is an excellent place to pick up an instrument or two, especially if you are curious about traditional Andean music. The center offers classes in classical music and instruments, but its specialty is instruction in the traditional rhythms you hear all over Ecuador. If you’d like to learn how to pick out a San Juanito on a charango or a Huayno on a zampoña, or even a Capishca on the Kena, this is the place to go. Other instruments offered are electric bass, guitar, piano and violin.
