Casa de la Mujer is a building in the center of Cuenca filled with stalls selling every type of craft typical to Ecuador, and especially the Azuay province. Products include knit sweaters from Otavalo, traditional Andean musical instruments, Panama hats, jewelry, ceramics and weavings. More orderly than the San Francisco market just outside, you can peruse the stalls at your own pace with no one pressuring you to buy anything. There are two stories of stalls and public bathrooms ($0.10) on the second floor. You can also get a cheap lunch here for $1.
