Catedral de la Inmaculada (New Cathedral) - Historical Building Cuenca - Ecuador

The massive brick facade and sky-blue domes of Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepci贸n make the building one of the most recognizable (and photographed) in Cuenca. La Inmaculada, which is dubbed the "New Cathedral" to distinguish it from El Sagrario, dates to 1885. The entrance of La Inmaculada is choked with vendors selling candles and religious souvenirs. Inside, you'll find a large gold altar, the crowned Virgin Mary for which Inmaculada is known, and walls lined with religious statues (where you can light one of the candles you bought earlier).
