Mama Kinua can be a quick stop if you are in the center of the city and feel like you need a break from the typical tourist magnets. The center acts as a place for gathering and disseminating cultural information. There is a small library of indigenous texts, a café where breakfast and lunch is served, and postings of various cultural events going on in the vicinity. Mama Kinua has connections to La Casa de la Mujer, next door, as well as to Fundación de Salud Jambi Runa, a rural health organization: to Turismo Rural Kushi Waira, and to Queseria Ñucanchik Kawsay, a cooperative of cheese producers. If you are interested in volunteering in any of these areas or in exploring community-based tourism in rural areas, Mama Kinua can assist you.
The center is open Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm
