Turi, or “brother” in Kichwa, serves as a quick escape away from the center of the city. Most enjoyable at sunset, Turi sits atop a steep hill, providing gorgeous vistas of the city lights below and the mountains that surround it. You can usually count on a backdrop of pink and purple sky, cuddling couples and, at dusk traditional music blaring from the church loudspeakers. The actual lookout point is just in front of the church, the side of which is covered in interesting murals that depict daily indigenous life. On Sundays, Turi is filled with churchgoers and provides an interesting perspective of what town life is really about.

The murals on the nearby buildings looked cool and the view of the city was awesome. This was my first view of Cuenca before spending the next couple months living there. It was fun to go back up at the end of my trip and compare the two experiences. I could pick out the buildings and parks that I knew afterwards that I had had no clue about before!
I loved every single thing about ecuador the best experience ever
