Located about seven or eight blocks to the northeast of the central square in Cuenca, Plaza Rotary hosts an outdoor market of random, non-touristy handicrafts made by and for locals. Hand-tied rope, baskets made of old car tires, brass bells and more are for sale here. The spot is well worth a visit, but don’t plan on buying much of anything: there just isn’t much of interest for travelers.
Plaza Rotary is located on Vargas Machuca and Gaspar Sangurima. You can walk there from the central square, but it will take you about 20 minutes. A cab can get you there much quicker and won’t cost more than a dollar.
