Located in the small town of Baños about five minutes from Cuenca (not to be confused with the much larger town of Baños near Ambato), Hostería Durán is a surprisingly large hotel and visitor complex. The establishment has hot springs, a restaurant, conference facilities, a game room, water slides and more. Durán is far and away the best place to stay in the tiny town of Baños and stacks up well against hotels in nearby Cuenca. The hostería can take reservations through its website, though the site is somewhat difficult to use.

Hosteria Duran is a great place to stay

Friendly staff, great service, easy access by bus to Cuenca, thermal pools are very nice, kid-friendly. Highly recommended! Only problem may be a little noise at night from the pool before it closes if you are an early or light sleeper.

Beautiful Hotel

The rooms are very nice and comfortable! They even turned our bed down and left chocolates at night. Some rooms have gorgeous views of the nearby mountains. You can enjoy the pools, tennis courts, turkish sauna ect. The price includes a good breakfast. Service is fantastic. It is off the beaten path but the local bus stops at the foot of the driveway and there are always taxis. Their web site reservation does not work so well. We had to call.
