Hotel Oro Verde ( the name translates as "Green Gold" in Spanish and refers to bananas) is Cuenca's most luxurious hotel. The establishment is a destination in itself, offering such amenities as a swimming pool, exercise room, fine dining, tennis and horseback riding. The Oro Verde has 79 rooms, so there is usually space available, even during busy seasons. This hotel is one of several luxurious Oro Verde branded hotels in Ecuador, and like the others, the complex features large, well-designed rooms, gorgeous gardens and elegant restaurants.

Oro Verde Cuenca is located outside of town, too far to walk, but taxis are inexpensive and the hotel staff will be happy to arrange one for guests. The hotel was built on the banks of the Tombamba river, next to a small natural lake.

Easily the fanciest hotel in Cuenca, Oro Verde is particularly popular with businessmen and deep-pocketed tourists. If you have the money, the Oro Verde is a good place to spend it.
