Casa Lojana is one of Loja’s best high-budget options. The building that houses the hotel was once an elegant home, which has since been converted. There are gardens, balconies, a fine restaurant and luxurious, well-decorated rooms. The hotel is efficiently run by the University of Loja, who use it as a learning tool for their students in hotel industry courses.

The hotel is located outside of town on a hilly street: a taxi ride from just about anywhere in Loja should cost about $1. The rates are quite high for inexpensive Loja, but they’re relative. A night at a place like Casa Lojana would be much more expensive in Quito or other parts of the world; it’s a good place to splurge if you’re on a mid-range budget.

Casa Lojana is relatively small: it only has 12 rooms, so booking ahead is suggested.
