Getting Around Loja

If you spend most of the time in the city's center, you will find walking to be the best mode of transportation. However, if you would like to venture to other neighborhoods or visit some of the city's parks, you will need to take a local bus or taxi. The local buses only go north-south along two of Loja's main avenues: Avenida Universitaria and Avenida Emilio Ortega. All bus rides cost $0.25, regardless of where you hop on and off. Most destinations within the city itself cost $1-1.50 via taxi. A taxi between the city center and the bus terminal costs $1. Alternatively, shared taxis leave from Ciudadela Yaguarcuna and cost only $0.25 per person; those along the "Ruta La Pradera" go to the bus terminal.
