Volunteering

This organic farm is located in the beautiful mountains that surround Vilcabamba. The farm is open to anyone interested in organics and willing to help out around the farm. A two to three hour hike from Vilcabamba, the farm is a joint effort to improve a degraded mountainside.

There are many projects that need helping hands, including trail building, composting and mulching, animal and tree care, building structures and furniture with local materials, irrigation, and gardening. The hike up to the farm is of medium-difficulty, but the scenery is worth it, as is the peace and quite and amazing views on arrival.

The farm is not a hotel and all visitors are expected to help out with what they can. People are welcome for short stays, and as there is no fee to stay at the farm, they are asked to bring up some food donations. Those who would like to stay for at least two weeks and give advance notice can be met in Vilcabamba - donkey service can be provided from the trailhead for your luggage. There is no electricity at the farm and most people sleep in tents, however there are some beds available.
