Hosteria Izhcayluma is situated on a hill approximately 2 kilometers outside of Vilcabamba, and enjoys spectacular vistas of the village and surrounding countryside. Guests are housed in beautiful bungalows, set well-spaced within the grounds and decorated in a minimalist style. Balconies and hammocks overlooking the stunning landscape are a very welcome feature of the rooms and aid an already tranquil atmosphere.

Relaxation is also possible while lounging by the pool, walking along the pretty, flowered pathways, playing pool or table tennis or simply enjoying a cold beer in the bar. For those wanting a more challenging intellectual activity, the giant-sized chess set is ideal. The hotel also has a restaurant which is open from 08:00 - 20:00 every day except Monday (when it is closed during the middle of the day). The restaurant serves a delicious mix of both Ecuadorian and Bavarian specialities. Breakfast is included and, very unusually, can be taken at any time during the day, other than a brief spell mid-morning. In the bar area there is a large TV: movies can be borrowed at the front desk.

There are different parts of the hotel, including cabins, dorm rooms and regular rooms. Prices vary according to the level of comfort and privacy you want.

Getting There:
The hotel is near the city of Loja, capital of the same named province. It is possible to reach Vilcabamba direct from the Loja bus terminal, and it takes approximately 1 hour. You can take the minibus "Vilcabambaturis": from 6 am to 7 pm every 30 minutes

Fab Food, Very Relaxing Stay

What can I say....it was truly wonderful! The bungalows are beautiful, decorated in a modern style. There was a hammock on the balcony outside our room, and at night it was lovely to lie in it looking at the stars. And the food - absolutely fantastic. Try the Bavarian potatoes which are all mixed together with bits of bacon, egg and onion. Delicious.

At Izhcayluma we felt the first time during our trip that we could stay much longer - that we have not stayed long enough. It was like finding home and meeting friends and family. The place was everything we imagined and more. Our suggestion is that you book an extra night as soon as you arrive - you won't regret it. The staff are lovely, the food is excellent and the setting is one of the most beautiful and tranquil places we have been. Enjoy it, we did !
