Business Hours
Banks vary their hours but are generally open from Monday- Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. around the country. Hours for money and travelers check exchange are often different. See our Banks and ATM and Money and Costs sections for more information.
Restaurants often shut down between meals. Breakfast is generally served from 8 to 10 a.m.; lunch from 12 to 3 p.m. and dinner from 6 to 10 p.m. In smaller towns, dinner will end earlier. In Quito, Guayaquil and cities with high tourist traffic, it is not uncommon to eat at 10 p.m. Restaurants, especially in small towns, are often closed on Sundays and public holidays. In Quito and Guayaquil, the international chains always stay open on these days. Hotels are a good option when restaurants are closed; they are almost always prepared to serve food.
