La Hora: www.lahora.com.ec. An umbrella news company that prints in 12 regions throughout Ecuador, publishing regional news in the area.

TV:
Considered the most important source of the country's mass media. Telenovelas, which can be compared to American soap operas, take up most of the air-time in Ecuador. There are 10 private channels and three operated by the state, as well as regional stations. Cable is becoming increasingly popular.

Listening to the radio is very popular in Ecuador, and each town has at least one of their own, local radio stations. Most stations produce a mix of music and conversation. While most are in Spanish, it's possible to find a few in English as well. For top hits in Quito, listen to Los 40s Principales (97.7 FM), or Alfa Radio (98.5 FM); and for local music and adult contemporary themes, listen to Ecuador Inmediato Radio, which is best online. Radio Sucre (www.radiosucre.com.ec) is a national network.
