The Quito branch of the South American Explorers’ Club is a lively hub. It has a lot to offer to both travelers and ex-pats, and is a great place to meet people. For travelers, the club is an excellent source for maps, guidebooks and general up-to-date safety and travel information. Regular weeknight events include pub quizzes, Spanish and cooking classes. The club also regularly organizes good-value beach or hiking excursions. Club members get discounts on all of this, plus cheaper deals in many bars, restaurants and tour agencies in Ecuador.
