What better way to enjoy the colonial center of Quito than in the preferred method of transportation of a century ago, a horse and buggy! Quito's colonial founders would be surprised to hop into one of these carriages as soon as the MP3 player starts bumping, the headlights flick on and the high-tech brakes kick in. The tour is about 15 minutes long and runs from near the Plaza de la Independencia (Plaza Grande) to the Plaza de San Francisco and back. Go after dark when the cathedrals are lit up, traffic is less horrendous, and the cool breeze will require snuggling to stay warm!
