Set just off the Plaza Santo Domingo, the Real Audiencia Hotel offers dusty but decent rooms and discounts for Ecuadorians. Transportation can be arranged from the airport for just $3 more than the regular room rate. Make arrangements with the hotel in advance. The highlight is the top-floor restaurant and bar with large windows looking out onto the Plaza Santo Domingo. The hotel makes an effort to work with the city to protect the historic buildings, like itself, in the area.

Staff from top to bottom are very helpful and friendly even though some of them can't hardly speak English. The room we stayed was so huge and clean! Bathroom needs some renovation. Our room was on the corner overlooking the Plaza Sto. Domingo nice view! The downside though it can get very noisy in the evening along the street. If you are very sensitive with noises you might want to ask for an inside room. Besides the street noise, its fairly quiet in the hallway of the hotel. The plus side they have free internet! With good coffee and free breakfast! If you plan to visit the Old historic place of Quito, this is the place to stay! Thumbs up!

Real Audiencia is an excellent hotel, with friendly staff, nice rooms and a good and cheap restaurant with beautiful views.
