Set in a converted colonial building in Quito's Centro Historico district, the Secret Garden is a top VTG favorite. It's main selling points are the stunning view over the colonial district from the roof terrace restaurant/bar, and the friendly, laid-back atmosphere. Dinner is a particularly sociable occasion—there is a set menu option (always with a vegetarian alternative) and everyone eats together at a long table.
The rooms are slightly more expensive than other hostels in the area, but it's worth it for the incredibly comfortable mattresses and real duvets.
The Secret Garden can also arrange Spanish lessons—taken on the roof terrace. There are also regular day-trips to Cotopaxi from the hostel.
Hostel is open all year. Breakfast is served 07:30 - 11:00. Dinner is served daily at 5:30 p.m.and reservations are essential by 5pm.
Dorm beds $7, double/twin rooms with shared/private bathroom $18-20 per room

its overrated, noisy and not that clean. Can be fun for some but the prices are too high for a hostel and there are better value choices
I love this hostel. Beautiful rooms, friendly people, good prices, excellent breakfasts..:)
pretty bad
The people are fantastic. I was travelling by myself but ended up with so many new travelling friends. The set dinners are great and the hostel is always organising activities. The view over the old town from the roof cafe-common area is amazing.
This was the first and the best hostel I stayed in during my 7 month trip in South America.
During my stay I experienced every option of The Garden: Homestay, Spanish Course and all the meals.
It's a great hostal which provides a good vibe to meet people with whom I'm still in contact!!!
