La Casa de la Peña

Located in a 400-year-old building in the Centro Histórico of Quito, La Casa de la Peña is full of Quiteño culture, history and views. Diagonal from the Basílica and with views from the many patios, Casa de la Peña features rotating art and poetry exhibits and live music and poetry readings Thursday - Saturday nights and holidays from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Try the canelaza, a typical hot alcoholic beverage served in a wooden pitcher. There is also a wide selection of coffees, drinks, appetizers and sandwiches. There are comfy couches, a fireplace and blankets to stay warm in this drafty old gem of a house and cultural center.

A typical cosy place which takes you back in time

It's one of the oldest houses of Quito in colonial style with a awsome view of the historical centre.

the truest taste of Quito

La Casa de la Pena is an excellent place to get a true taste of Quiteno history and culture. There are rotating art exhibits and live music several times a week.
