Ocho y Medio is Quito’s only independent movie theater and is a great spot to catch a flick. Located east of the Swisshotel in the La Floresta neighborhood, the artsy film spot has two comfy rooms (one with throw pillows in front of the screen) to view movies and is teamed up with the trendy and delicious La Cafetina GalerÃa Restorán out front, where you can grab a bite to eat or a drink before or after the showing. Ocho y Medio screens indie and second-run films and documentaries from around the globe in a variety of languages (with Spanish or English subtitles), and hosts film festivals and the occasional live theater, music or dance show.
