V!VA User‘s Description

Casa Oriente is located between the Centro Histórico and La Mariscal about four blocks east of the southernmost end of 12 de Octubre on Yaguachi. Despite being a somewhat nondescript building, the inside is charming and homey. A common patio on the top floor offers excellent views, a big picnic table and common kitchen for residents. Designed for travelers planning extended stays in Quito - the owner won't rent out a room for less than a week; Casa Oriente is an excellent place to meet travelers from around the world. The rooms are basic, no refrigerator or oven, but a gas stove, sink and a few cabinets complete the kitchen. The mattresses are all good and linens are provided.

The internet cafe is the cheapest we've found in Quito at $0.60/hour for a broadband connection. Residents can use the computers after the cafe is closed to the public - until around midnight. Several pool tables, a ping pong table, some arcade games and board games also make Casa Oriente a great home away from home.

Traveler Reviews of

my stay in ecuador

Rating: 100%

I liked the place, it was the perfect place to stay for longerstays; I was staying in ecuador for three months. The Casa Oriente is a great place to interact with and learn from people from all over the World. Pedro and his wife are very warm hearted people and both run businesses just beneath the Casa. Visit at all cost. loco aleman

A taste of Ecuador

Rating: 100%

I lived in the Casa Oriente for three months straight, and first of all, to live in the Casa is to live in Ecuador. Pedro and his family run this buisniss. They have a student pub with Internet access at 60 cents an hour, and billiards as well. The roof kitchen makes it easy to party nicely and cook deliciously. You even can get your hair cut by Maria, Pedro's wife. Beer, cold and fresh, is $2.25 for two-and-a-half litres.
