The Mariscal is undoubtedly Quito's nightlife hot spot. With an overwhelming number of bars and clubs on every street, this is definitly the best place to head on Friday and Saturday nights (sometimes Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays as well...). Despite its name, Gringolandia is the place to go out for Quitaños just as much, if not more, than backpackers.
Technically all bars in the Mariscal area must close by 2 a.m., in accordance with a law passed a few years ago. However, many stay open until three, or later if they think no one’s looking. There are also a number of "clubs", which open later, often until 6 or 7am.
