With rooms starting at $12 per person (shared bath), it's not the cheapest option in the area, but Casa Kanela often comes highly recommended. Prices do include tax, however, as well as breakfast. It's also located in the heart of Gringolandia, so convenience is on its side as well. Amenities are simple--in most cases just a bed with clean sheets and some wooden furniture to fill up space--but if you're not looking for anything more than a place to rest that's near where you want to be, you could do a lot worse.

Peace in the Middle of the Mariscal

I liked this hostal quite a lot. While only a 3 minute walk from the heart of the touristy Mariscal, it is a peaceful and friendly oasis.

Really beautiful house, very friendly owners, great touristic information, is near everything, you sleep like god, clean and quiet, huge and good breakfast, and very cheap!!!!
