The Hostal El Arupo can easily be described in one word: colorful. The bright yellow oustside and the multi-colored interior makes the hostel quickly comes off as friendly, warm and cozy. The dormitories are spacious with comfortable beds. The prices range from $22 for a single room up to $40 for a four-person room-- a delicious breakfast included.Most of the rooms have a private bathroom with a hot water shower and a TV.

If you want to watch cable TV, you have to go down to the common room, complete with a fireplace to keep you warm on those cold and rainy Quito days. If you are hungry, you can prepare your own food in the common kitchen, which provides you with everything you need. It is also no problem to stay in contact with your family/friends at home, since there is a public computer with internet access. The hostel also offers laundry service, a safety box and free luggage storage.

The main door is locked all day.

Check in any time after 6:30 a.m.. Check out before noon.

Luis was exceptionally helpful. The staff speaks little or no English, but always found a way to communicate through their gracious hospitality. There was good bedding (3 blankets!), excellent security and a delicious free breakfast (eggs cooked to order & REAL coffee). Single room with private bath for only $23, including taxes. Loved the location, too. An exceptional find!
