Hostal Fuente de Piedra I looks more like a luxury hotel than a hostal, with its efficient 24 hour reception and cozy but comfortable rooms for two. The ensuite bathrooms are sparkling clean, while the restaurant welcomes guests for traditional Ecuadorian fare served at polished wooden tables. Although a bit pricey at $30 for a twin room and $36 for a double, the cost includes breakfast and trips can be arranged to a jungle lodge along the river Napo and to Otavalo´s El Hotel Coraza, both also owned by Ecuahotel. Meanwhile, hot water is available all day, every day, and visitors can take advantage of the laundry service, a multilingual book exchange and a free internet facility. A mostly European and North American clientele has left favorable comments in the guestbook, complete with smiley-faced drawings.
