A historical building right in the heart of La Mariscal, Huaki provides a little Oriental flare for travelers. A Japanese chef manages the second-floor restaurant (no shoes allowed), and guests rave about the food. For breakfast, included for all rooms except the dormitories ($2.50 extra), you can elect a traditional Japanese-style meal in addition to three other classicallywestern options.

Several walls are painted tea green (although they could be touched up) and the bathrooms need a more substantial facelift and scrubbing. However, All rooms come equipped with free WiFi. Huaki is a popular place to crash, especially during May-September, so try to bookin advance.

The easiest way to get to our hostel is to take a taxi from the airport. It takes about 15 minutes and will cost no more than $7. Ask the taxi driver to take Joaquin Pinto in the Mariscal.

The staff is great, reliable and honest. Oscar, Santi and Mario are like an extended family!! The housekeeper, Carolina, is a real gem, providing clean towels and a huge smile daily!! The bedrooms are spacious and twin rooms have two double beds. Unfortunately, the bathrooms are in major need of a facelift!!

Wonderful

This hostal japones was recommended by my friend in Sacha Lodge. Our plane broke down in Jacksonville, FL and we were four hours late, so it was great to find nothing but friendly faces, a great service and a fabulous japanese breakfast awaiting us. Rooms were clean and comfortable. I am going to recommend this to my friends. Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!
