Looks can be deceiving, especially when it comes to Hostal Quito-Antiguo.

Located only blocks away from the main hustle and bustle of La Mariscal, Hostal Quito-Antiguo is unremarkable. From the outside, you can hardly distinguish the entryway from the rest of the street. Enter the dimly-lit building, however, and you´ll be pleasantly surprised. The rooms are neat, and the staff is eager to serve. As an added bonus, each room has its own private bathroom, which prevents late-night traipses to find shared bathrooms.

On the third floor, there is a common area convenient for groups to get together for dinner. Be forewarned though - if you´re not part of the aforementioned, often rowdy group, you could be in for a rough time trying to fall asleep.

As it is located close to the party scene, the hostel´s inhabitants may be subject to reveler´s singing or yelling, especially on the weekends. Travelers staying in the hostel often return in the wee hours of the morning, so look into another hostel further away if you´re looking for a night of peace and quiet.
