Looks can be deceiving, especially when it comes to Hostal Quito-Antiguo.

Located only blocks away from the main hustle and bustle of La Mariscal, this place is seemingly unremarkable. From the outside, you can hardly distinguish the entryway from the rest of the street. Enter the dimly-lit building, however, and you'll be pleasantly surprised. The rooms are neat, and the staff is eager to serve. As an added bonus, each room has its own private bathroom, which prevents late-night traipses to find shared bathrooms.

On the third floor, there is a common area convenient for groups to get together for dinner. Be forewarned though - if you´re not part of the aforementioned, often rowdy group, you could be in for a rough time trying to fall asleep.

As it is located close to the party scene, the hostel´s inhabitants may be subject to reveler´s singing or yelling, especially on the weekends. Travelers staying in the hostel often return in the wee hours of the morning, so look into another hostel further away if you´re looking for a night of peace and quiet.
