Traveler Reviews of QFA - Quito Furnished Apartments (Ecuador)

Thanks QFA

Dear QFA,I had such a great trip to Ecuador. We liked your apartments for two reasons... one was the people around there, as Peter and the rest of staff were great to have a conversation. The other bonus was the ability to cook in the kitchen after picking up some groceries in a shop around the street corner. We traveled to Ecuador with our two eight year olds and being able to have homemade breakfast and dinner back at our apartment not only gave us some of our best time together, but made the day the perfect length. The apartment had a great central location. We were in Quito during some hot sunny days so it was nice to be relatively close to everything by walking distance. We strategically used some taxi services here to avoid getting exhausted and get us of our tired feet so we could cover even more ground during the day with our eight year olds. The surprise was taxis were cheap and well worth it. In the area of travel planning, now that the trip is really over, I can say that your office at QFA does a great job of selecting places to say and taking the busy work out of planning trips around Quito. All the places we stayed at, as we picked from your "most recommended list", were excellent. My biggest regret was not asking you first sooner as I think I spent almost 20 hours searching for tours and ideas, and only 5 hours planing the trip, including  research and confirmations of things to do, once I asked your polite employes at the QFA office. All in all it was one of the best family trip we have ever taken. I know we will go back to QFA, exactly when I am not quite sure when, but I do know that QFA is surely in my favorites folder and only just a click away next time we start planning our trip. Thanks again and all the best,Jana

Great rental!

I have rented an apartment from QFA for nearly a year. I must say the experience have been very pleasant. Appliances and facilities work perfectly and privacy is always protected. I would recommend to rent a unit here to anyone. It is close to the tourist center of Quito without suffering all the noise and distraction. An ideal location if you like lots of interesting resturants an quality services of laundry, fax, inexpensive telephones, supermarket, etc, nearby. Good bye QFA and see you soon when I come back to Ecuador on 2010. I would like to spend another year in this lovely apartment you rented for me.

Stay Away from QFA

It is an absolute MUST that you stay away from these apartments. They are run by a corrupt old woman and her equally crooked son. I lived there for a long time and the following happened to me, friends and fellow travelers; the senora took my friend's suitcase and held it for a ransom, the señora pulled a gun on a boy from Norway, she got into a fist fight with an elderly Colombian woman, she threw rocks at her neighbors, she turned off our electricity and water if she was mad that we had gone out dancing, she made up all kinds of charges and took our things until we paid her, she locked me behind this electric fence and wouldn't let me out until I called the police, she would not let another girl who was renting in because the girl had come home too late - she had to go and get a hotel all alone and late at night, she spat on a girl who had a guest over, she made false accusations against some girls from London and called the police whom she bribes - the police came and attempted to take the girls to jail simply because they had invited over some boys for dinner - they had to call their embassy, she stole my mail that was from the US government and would not give it to me until I paid her 75 dollars - she is a racist and openly discusses not allowing people of color to rent from her. She is a psychopath - I lived in Quito for 3 years during which time I learned from realtors, SAE clubhouse, and other travelers that this woman is NOTORIOUS for being corrupt and taking advantage of tourists. I INSIST that you DO NOT rent from this crazed landlady - you will wind up hating Quito if you do and it is such a great place to be....... you have been warned!

Goodbye QFA

The apartment was fantastic. Everything was clean and lovely and the location was perfect. Thank you for all of your help. It was such a pleasure. (…) We really had such a beautiful stay in the apartment and the comfort and convenience of it made it all possible. I'd do it again and again.
