Traveler Reviews of La Bodeguita de Cuba

Perfect combo of good music, good food and great dancing!

Just thinking about our night dancing at la Bodeguita my hips start moving...the 10 of us arrived early -- before 9pm and the music hadn't yet started...we ordered drinks and some appetizers (1 mojito or cuba libre included with cover) and got to talking...the music started very slowly -- old, romantic cuban songs, which were beautiful, but not good dancing music...a few in our group were disappointed and nearly left. But then--the rhythm picked up, people were up and dancing and as the night went on (and we consumed bottle after bottle of water--it was hot and we had just arrived at 10,000 ft) the music got better and better...they played our requests, including reggaeton. We stayed till 2am and had the time of our lives--especially those who wanted to leave at the beginning of the night. The crowd is mostly ecuadorian (or cuban) and mostly older--we were a group from 28-31 years old, and probably among the youngest--but we took up nearly the whole dance floor...the musicians were friendly, the wait staff even friendlier (dancing with us and occasionally giving us free drinks...the food--great black bean puree, fried yuca with limon, ropa vieja...all delicious. If you're over 26 and still like to go out and dance but don't want to hang with college students or dance a serious salsa, go to Bodeguita de Cuba or to Varadero next door (I've also had a great time there in the past)!
