Las Redes

Location:
Amazonas 845 y Veintimilla
La Mariscal, Quito, Ecuador

Restaurant Types:
Seafood, Ecuadorian

V!VA User‘s Description

Located right in the heart of the Mariscal's gringo district, it is tempting to see Las Redes as a tourist trap. This is not the case, however: the restaurant is better than expected and full of locals.

In a nutshell, Las Redes is an above-average seafood joint. The restaurant itself is small and somewhat cramped, and it tends to fill up, especially at lunchtime when it is packed with Ecuadorian executives. The food is quite good. The specialty of the house is "Mariscada," a heaping plate of fish, clams, crab legs, squid, you name it: it's as if some fisherman emptied a net right into the frying pan without really looking to see what he had caught.

The prices are quite steep by Mariscal standards, but the food and the service are good. Bottom line: if you need a seafood fix and don't need to save money, check out Las Redes.

Traveler Reviews of Las Redes

A nice place

Rating: 100%

It's located close to Hotel Mercure, Hilton etc. We had "GRAN MARISCADA", a combination seafood plate cooked with a special butter sauce. It's delicious and over sufficient for two person. $33 is not cheap dinner for two(In Quito) but good value. Though I live near in San Francsco,I never seen those huge and nice seafood plate. Employees can speak English, very kind and a neat uniform wearing. Interior decoration looks good and felt comfortable.
