Mongos

Right in the heart of the Mariscal, the Mongolian barbeque, Mongos has quickly become a firm favorite with travelers and Ecuadorians alike. Go for the, “Todo lo que puede comer,” or “All you can eat” option, for $4.99 (vegetarian, $2.99). For this price you also get a soup or salad starter thrown in. While you’re waiting for the starter, mix and match with the wide array of vegetables, choose chicken or beef and make a salsa from the wide variety of options available. For those not feeling creative, there are also meals on the menu. Cocktails are offered, a bargain a pop at $1. It is worth being patient with the somewhat sullen staff, for the excellent value food. Also, check out the $2.99 set lunch menu, with choice of soup or salad, full-sized entree, and desert and beverage. Mongos can get busy, but usually clears out quickly, so hang around.

Traveler Reviews of Mongos

Todo lo que puedes comer!

Being a vegetarian in South American isn't always easy, but Mongo's all-you-can-eat buffet of fresh veggies, tofu and pasta did the trick. So inexpensive, so delicious! (Oh, meat-lovers loved it too!)

Great for getting some veggies in

I've been staying in a homestay, where you don't get many vegetables and this place is great for making up for that. There are a really wide variety of vegetables and lots of tasty sauces too. You can't beat the cocktails for $0.99.

Come Hungry

A great buffet for Quito, you can get plate after plate of yummy veggies. A great value when you think of the fact that places like this cost at least ten bucks in the states.
